Motorcycle Insurance FAQ
What are custom parts and equipment, and how are they covered?
When coverage is purchased under the Comprehensive and Collision portion of your policy, factory equipment only is covered. The following is a list of items that would require you to purchase Custom Parts and Equipment coverage:
· chrome parts
· custom paint job
· trailers
· side cars
· saddle bags
· custom exhaust
· headsets/intercom systems
· any wearing apparel (note: helmets and riding apparel are covered only in the event of a collision)
· other accessories that are not factory standard
The following items are not eligible as "add-on accessories":
· radar detectors
What is a Custom Motorcycle, and how is my coverage affected?
To be considered a "Custom Cycle" the motorcycle must be less than 20 years old and meet the following criteria:
Have more than $5,000 in custom parts or equipment or
Be one of the "Pre-designated" Custom Motorcycles defined below:

In the event of a loss, what about the limit of liability?
The actual cash value of the stolen or damaged property at the time of the loss, reduced by the applicable deductible shown on the Declarations page, and by its salvage value if you retain the salvage or The amount necessary to repair or replace the stolen or damaged property with other property of like kind or quality, reduced by the applicable deductible shown on the Declarations page or Any applicable Limit of Liability or Stated Amount Coverage elected by you, reduced by its salvage value if you retain the salvage.
Am I adequately protected for my antique motorcycle?
To be considered a "Collector Motorcycle," the motorcycle must be at least 20 years old. In the event of a loss, the limit of Liability to your cycle will be the lowest of:
· The amount necessary to repair or replace the stolen or damaged property with other property of like kind or quality, reduced by the applicable deductible shown on the declarations page or
· The applicable Limit of Liability stated in the Declarations reduced by its salvage value if you retain the salvage.
