Joel Weis brings decades of experience and deep community roots to Robertson Ryan Insurance, where he has been serving clients since April 2020. Before joining the agency, Joel was the co-owner of May’s Insurance Agency in Burlington, WI, a family business where he built his career and discovered his passion for helping business owners navigate the complexities of insurance.

With an early background in accounting, Joel realized before graduating college that he wanted a career centered on people rather than ledgers. That shift led him to the insurance industry, where he quickly found fulfillment in making sense of business insurance for clients throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. His analytical foundation still plays a significant role today, helping him accurately assess business income exposures and tailor coverage to each organization’s unique needs.

Joel’s approach to exceptional customer service is rooted in action, compassion, and presence. He believes in showing up when it matters most—whether that means delivering plywood on a holiday weekend after a tornado, opening a temporary “Claims Center” during the 2017 Burlington floods while competitors sent callers to voicemail, or guiding a client through next steps immediately after they’ve been served notice of a lawsuit. For Joel, exceptional service is defined by reliability, responsiveness, and unwavering support.

Beyond his work, Joel is deeply invested in his community. He is a founding board member of The Veterans Terrace of Burlington and serves as President of The Burlington Community Fund.

Joel and his wife Sherry are proud parents of five adult children and grandparents to one granddaughter. When he’s not serving clients or giving back locally, you’ll likely find him visiting family in Colorado during the summer or enjoying the sunshine in Florida during the winter. Determined, energetic, and reliable, Joel is committed to helping clients protect what matters most.
