Jon began his business career as the third generation President of Shorewood Mills, a Milwaukee-based manufacturer of “American’s Finest Underwear.”  With over 150 employees and sales offices in Chicago, L.A. and The Empire State Building, our costumers included a Who’s Who of retailers; e.g., Macy’s, Saks, Bloomingdales, Marshall Field’s, Et al. Overseas competition proved insurmountable, but the experience gave him an appreciation for the challenges of running a company and an affinity for working with business owners.

Thus was ‘The Practice of Insurance’ launched in 1981 to continue helping business owners address a critical P & L line-item; yup, even then, the “sky-rocketing” cost of health care!

His family’s business legacy also included The Rotary Club of Milwaukee (since 1935); its motto – “Service Above Self” – inspiring membership in the National Association of Health Underwriters (now, NABIP). While lobbying extensively in Washington and Madison for private sector reforms, Jon was elected Chapter and State Presidents. In 2013 his broker peers honored him with the Robert C. Gilray “Distinguished Service Award.”

A flattering milestone but hardly the time to declare “Mission Accomplished!”

In 2018, The Rauser Agency was invited to become an Affiliate of Robertson Ryan & Associates; the 68^th largest U.S. Business Insurance Broker (1) and 11^th largest WI Employee Benefits firm (2). We continue to focus on the 2-150 small group market, with an emphasis on educating our clients and their employees to be savvy consumers of health care. (Of note, our 30 Second Insurance Tips.)

The Rauser Agency has been a proud member of The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce for 25 years; The Wisconsin Policy Forum; The Badger Institute; Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce; and, Independent Business Association of Wisconsin (IBAW).

Finally, Jon received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He is an active member of The Milwaukee Athletic Club (48 years), The Wisconsin City & Country Club (35 years) and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
